PSL Optimization offers two packaged software products for tackling the logistics and optimization problems of centralised distribution operations:

 

HUBX: Resource Planning for Centralised Distribution

HUBX is the planning tool designed specifically for centralised distribution operations. Because HUBX is both comprehensive and highly interactive it gives you the power to explore all the 'what-if' questions of strategic resource planning. However, because HUBX is also easy to use with intelligent defaults and a library of master delivery files it is simple and speedy enough in operation to be used for tactical daily planning.

HUBX has been designed in close co-operation with a number of large distributors to ensure that it is aimed at the real problems of distribution - the management of limited resources of men, tractors and trailers.
Power assisted planning

The first surprise for any new HUBX user is just how simple it is to use. A delivery list is taken from the library, modified for today's requirements and scheduled. After scheduling, the driver, tractor, trailer, despatch and arrival times are added to each delivery in the list which can then be sorted on any field for viewing or printing. But being simple to use doesn't mean HUBX is over simplistic. Its extensive features give you the capability you need to accurately model your operation.

HUBX recognises that the 'best' operational schedule is a compromise between service levels and the utilisation of men and machines. With HUBX you can experiment. Monitor on the screen the effect of reducing the trailer pool, changing driver shift patterns, varying delivery windows. All the possibilities that you never had the time to explore are now within your grasp.

And when you are ready to examine your schedule in more detail, HUBX offers a report generator that allows you to design your own reports, despatch lists, driver schedules, trailer positioning reports, utilisation graphs and bar charts.

NTPS: Transport Planning System

NTPS, for WindowsNT/2000, is an integrated transport system for centralised distribution. It consists of four modules covering the functions of:

* Data Management
* Load Planning
* Resource Scheduling
* Reporting

The Load Planning module supports the manual and semi-automatic building of loads for both ambient and mixed temperature operations. Loads are tested for volume, weight and temperature validity and for compatibility with driver and trailer resource. The resulting loads are assigned to drivers, tractors and trailers using the HUBX scheduler.

Reports may be produced for order picking, driver despatching, store receipts and container management.

Our systems are in use in over twenty RDCs of two of the UK's leading supermarket chains.

Both systems are designed for WindowsNT/2000.
